# I am a speed skipping champion 3 years in a row, and a fancy skipper champion for 2 years.
# I am a certified abacus teacher. yes, i passed the highest grade. While everyone gave tuition as a part time job in school, i gave abacus classes to a class of 15-20 kids to earn extra pocket money.
# I get extremely grumpy if i don't shit at all in a day. I average 3-5 times a day.

Why are the most unlikely people, including myself, suddenly talking about God? Science, reason, liberalism, capitalism — just don’t deliver what is ultimately needed. “What other symbolic form “has managed to forge such direct links between the most universal and absolute of truths and the everyday practices of countless millions of men and women?”

Eagleton acknowledges that the links forged are not always benign — many terrible things have been done in religion’s name — but at least religion is trying for something more than local satisfactions, for its “subject is nothing less than the nature and destiny of humanity itself, in relation to what it takes to be its transcendent source of life.” And it is only that great subject, and the aspirations it generates, that can lead, Eagleton insists, to “a radical transformation of what we say and do.”

The other projects, he concedes, provide various comforts and pleasures, but they are finally superficial and tend to the perpetuation of the status quo rather than to meaningful change: “A society of packaged fulfillment, administered desire, managerialized politics and consumerist economics is unlikely to cut to the depth where theological questions can ever be properly raised.”

Progress, liberalism and enlightenment — these are the watchwords of those, like Hitchens, who believe that in a modern world, religion has nothing to offer us. Hello darlings! i haven't blogged for a a month about the ongoing activities and the peekatures are piling :) i took so long to upload the pictures last night! But here you go! i've been yearning to go for a swim cos its been really hard recently, and there was one afternoon, i grabbed a can of beer at the convenience store cos i cldn't take it anymore! hahaha. I caught revolutionary road last night too, and went to the comic store with the boyyy for some good ole fun. Im hoping everyone is haveing a great time as much as i do :):) Here goes the updates!

Han's farewell dinner

so han arranged for us to meetup and grab a nice meal before he left back to aussieland after his vacation. very nice chatting up with him and the rest. too bad we missed out partying with each other though. hoping to see him again when he's back! :):)

so i met kevin and tim for a nice dinner at the newly opened and acclaimed A71. they have really authentic japanese contemporary crusine which were really not bad! afterwhich we headed over to helipad to chill and chat through the night. it was pleasantly nice as we got to catch upw ith each other abit more and talk about travels and all :)

i met the darling girls for dinner in town and we munch munch chop chop and shop shop under one night. we ended the night with some photo taking at taitai's fav shop-benefit! :P mussel outing next month! :)

I just thought of a reason why i love Handi.

Most of the time, it feels good to know that there would always be someone you can lean on and share the ginormous of life, and it is that feeling that propels you on when you know that this person is your best friend, your sports partner, your drinking buddy, your bolster when you sleep, the pillar when you fall, your shopping bff and your daily dose of happiness. you feel happy when the person wipes your sweat after every game you played, ask you to bring change so that you will not catch a cold, sings in the croakiest and silliest voice to cheer you up, hugs you tight and plays with your hair every single minute, takes care of you when you are sick, and makes sure that you remember to take your meals.

Do not be mistaken, its not that i take it for granted or that i don't take care of him. but that is what makes me realise he dotes on me alot.

You know you feel happy hanging out and seeing this person each and every single day doing almost the mundane or exciting stuffs within a perimeter you both define, sharing laughter and jokes only you both will understand; because only the two of you truly understand each other best.

Even through the silence, you feel at home. When you are reading and he is gaming, but every goal that he scores, he turns behind silently hoping that you have caught a glimpse of it. When he thinks of you and lug home all your favourite stuff when he is away on a business trip. Even through his naggings, he wants you to take good care of yourself because he knows that he cannot be there 24/7 for you.

And after so long, the novelty doesn't wear off :) (P.S: Harpi bday hun!)

the lil one has been feeling really lousy this couple of days becos our mommy is away with her students on a trip.
she was telling shiing how much she missed mommsie and both of us caught a glimpse of the hp conversation of mommy and her. sucha sweet darling :) now tell me, din they all say kids bring the most joy :)
the emoticons are exactly how the sister conveyed it to our mom, all e more making shiing tear while they were having their "sisterly" talk.

helloo lovelies.
i'm back and sorta recuperated from the 2 days rest!
so, away from the blistering heat, scorching humidity, spices flavoured food, errands running and the lack of sleep, everything was pretty much alright. thanks to those (you know who you are) who have sent well wishes throughout the week and accompanied me through a bumpy ride :):) took quite abit of pictures too, will post them when i get them and sort them out.
and ben, sorry i finished the titbits. and flyer is reserved. :P "sky high" is a fantabulous name, self proclaimed by me, jus like how i call zh "tommy boy".
and joie, no souvenirs for you too. seriously i dunnoo wad you wld love frm that country. red and white miniature flag. you must be kidding me.
mr sng, your new shoes are smashing. you can stop asking me for the 100000000th time. haha
i'm still in the midst of job hunting nevertheless, but i'm surely not gonna compromise for anything besides what i want so the process might take awhile longer. congrats to mel for landing himself with inuovi. guess that's the line you've wanted for now :)
i'm off to do volunteer work in a while, guess for now serving the community is what i can offer. haha. i hafnt played sang nursery rhymes or read stories to kids in a long time. i need all the luck i can get.
i foresee loads of social activities for the month of aug. at hands now i have 4 already. can't wait :)

the first thing i saw was "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman. i read that like years ago and it is someone's FIRST VIRGINAL ATTEMPT at reading without dozing off on the first page, first line, fourth word. hahas. and the most criminal thing is prob in the midst of surfing the daily "favourite" sites on the lappy and bumming on the bed. we'll see aye? have a safe trip and you'll be missssed terribly! :):)
